A clear influence can be drawn from the more ambient examples of Burzum's music, such as on "Tomhet" and "Daudi Baldrs," etc. Old Monks' Saga have well structured songs and melodies for a new outfit. The stuff heard here is better sounding than Burzum's 'Daudi Balders,' and captures all the atmosphere of Mortiis, etc., while still maintaining an original and accomplished sound".

The lyrics deal with consensual aspects of love and completion in the one hand, pain and serenity in the other.
